Apple Salad, BLT, & More
July 2025 is upon us. Sports, picnics, celebrations, vacations, and garage sales pack schedules tight. But we still have to eat! This month's food blog is full of quick and easy prep.
If you need a cold salad to take to a picnic or family reunion, here is an old fashion Apple Salad everyone loves.
Great thing about this salad is you can make it a hit using what your family loves.
Any apple works. Use favorite nuts. The little dark grapes were delish. But you can use any type and size of grape you want. Be sure to save a dish for yourself for if your family is like my husband, he'll down it all before I get a serving! This is one salad that never makes its way to the trash. Allen eats it up!
Now think about a quick fix sandwich!
The good ole BLT can't be beat.
Can you believe the variety of bacon on the market? We get to choose from applewood, cherry, hickory smoked, low-sodium, or turkey. I promise this list is far from complete.
In the summer when I lived with gram, we often ate a thick tomator sandwich on slabs of homemade bread. We left off the bacon entirely. That's when I fell in love with vine ripened tomatoes!
If the sweet-tooth curse is one you live with,
I think this cookie will help remedy your fateful condition.
A lemon shortbread cookie that has the ability to be any size you want. If you have a little biscuit cutter or a tiny Christmas cutter, you can make bite size cookies.
Then freeze them so you don't go overboard! They melt in your mouth.
You don't have to wait for the holiday to make these. They go great with ice cream, milk, tea, or coffee. I don't ice them. I believe they are sweet enough!
But you know your cookie monsters better than I do!
Safe travels this month. Enjoy your family and all your outings.
Life is an adventure.
Enjoy every blessing.
Thank you for all you do for those you love.
Eat hearty. Be happy.
I am thankful for you all,
Dr. Donna
