Can you Take the Heat?

Can you Take the Heat?

Jul 28, 2025

All over the United States temperatures soar. Air quality tanks. Humidity hangs. Risks are high for elderly, babies, roofers, landscapers, pets and anyone who

ignores safety measures. Please take care of yourselves and loved ones. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports in 2024, 39 children

died of heatstroke from being left in a car.

Never, never, never leave a child or a pet in a hot car.

Take these facts to heart.

What about your groceries?

Ever heard of Salmonella, E. coli, or Listeria?
These bad-boy bacteria love the heat and you will hate the GI blues.
Be sure to place meats and perishables into insulated bags and don’t stop to peruse the aisles of your favorite box stores. Get home fast!

How do you stay physically safe?

Drink lots of the right kind of fluids to stay hydrated. Don’t wait for thirst to hit. Drink water and Gatorade. Remember coffee and tea have diuretic properties which can dry you out.

Air-conditioned areas are heaven when the temperatures are in the high 90s and over 100. Please don’t mow during the hottest part of the day. If you decide to push mow or can’t resist jumping on the riding mower, please use sunscreen and wear light weight breathable clothes. Dress in light colors.

I’ve given you enough warnings and statistics. You know what to do! If you need more help visit this site from the CDC.

Switching gears to a more positive suggestion.

Sometimes when we can’t leave the house it opens opportunities to do things we don’t usually do. How long has it been since you’ve danced or sang a song that applies to our life? I doubt you can find a better one than this!

Keith Forsey and Harold Faltermeyer wrote a song that perfectly fits this weather. Glenn Frey recorded “The Heat is on.” For those of you as old as me, Frey was a founding member, co-lead singer, and songwriter of the rock band, the Eagles. Remember the movie Beverly Hills Cop? This song is from the soundtrack.
What’s the message behind this song?
When we face life challenges our choices lead to success or failure. Yet, when circumstances get hot, we jump into action.

Knee-jerk reactions or intense planning may never happen till the heat is on.
If you’ve been sitting on the couch in the AC or parked on the recliner, you might want to get up and dance to the beat. Get a little blood flowing and think about what challenges you face today.

Stay cool. Stay safe. I want you to stay alive. I’m looking out for you!
That’s why I included homemade ice cream in your monthly recipes!

Have a blessed month,
